This case is for AVA24 general education and fun.It has nothing to do with PICC lines, although the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary Veterinary staff have occasionally placed the equivalent of central catheters!Cincinnati Childrens Vascular Access Team assists the Cincinnati Zoo occasionally and some years ago, placed a life saving PICC equivalent in a premie hippopotamus

PICC
Patient with bilateral upper limb PICCs. RIGHT PICC is no longer functioning. Bedside Nursing staff unable to flush or aspirate, therefore Vascular Access Team unable to infuse tPA (Tissue Plasminogen Activator).Clinical medical staff requested Interventional Radiology (IR) procedure for guide wire assisted PICC exchange, assuming that the lumen had become occluded by thrombus.
